How Your Day Works
The blast: morning duck hunt
- The day before your trip, Captain Britt will contact you to arrange the details for your upcoming hunt.
- You'll likely drive to a designated boat launch to meet your captain. Launches range from a quick 2-minute drive to a 1-hour journey. Arrive on time and fully prepared to load yourself and your gear onto our mud boats.
- We set off in the predawn darkness to reach our hunting location, set out decoys to attract birds, and camouflage the mud boat for the hunt.
- Hunting starts at daybreak and typically continues until around 9 or 10 AM. We prefer not to set a strict timeline, as it depends on the movement of the birds.
The cast: afternoon fishing
In our winter months we fish the interior marsh for speckled trout, using live shrimp under a cork or artificial lures under a cork. Typically you will fish for speckled trout for a bit and then venture back into the marsh to fish the rest of the day for redfish. Our reds will be in the marsh patrolling the banks in search of those live shrimp you will have at the end of your cork!
Blast & Cast Trip Rates
Duck hunt at daybreak and fish the marsh all afternoon. Your guide sets the decoys and calls the birds in the morning, then you trade the shotgun for a rod and go after redfish and speckled trout for the rest of the day.
